Lowe’s and Resolution Media Launch YouTube Holiday Solutions Center

For Immediate Release

Today, Resolution Media announced the launch of a YouTube “Holiday Solutions Center” in partnership with Lowe’s to provide professional how-to videos for home improvement enthusiasts. The online destination can be viewed at YouTube.com/HolidaySolutions.

From how to install outdoor lighting to Martha Stewart’s cornbread stuffing recipe to HGTV holiday decoration tips, Lowe’s “Let’s Build Something Together” mantra extends beyond typical home improvement to provide value to customers through video and social media. The Holiday Solutions Center includes over 200 videos from the Food Network, Martha Stewart, DIY Network, eHow, Epicurious and more.

The Holiday Solutions Center concept was developed by Resolution Media and Google to tap into the surge of holiday search volume and target do-it-yourself and home improvement enthusiasts. YouTube generates over 40% of its video traffic from search queries making it the 2nd largest search engine in the world. Jeff Campbell, Resolution Media’s VP of Product Development points out, “With over 75% of Americans watching a video online last month, many are searching for solutions to problems or looking for project know-how.” Campbell continues, “With the holidays approaching, the YouTube Holiday Solutions Center is a unique opportunity for Lowe’s to continue to build a relationship with consumers and break through the competitive clutter.”

The Holiday Solutions Center was designed primarily to engage Lowe’s customers and potential customers with relevant content. However, a recent ComScore study showed 68% of YouTube users had purchased something online in the previous three months and 26% purchased something offline that they saw advertised online. Tammara Combs, VP, Lowes.com, states, “Besides the obvious benefits to consumers of the how-to videos and innovative viral component of the YouTube channel, we are also able to promote Lowes.com products and allow visitors to use a store locator gadget making it easy for consumers to shop this season.”

The Holiday Solutions Center will be active through the end of December in conjunction with Lowe’s Let’s Holiday campaign. Resolution Media and Lowe’s plan to continue leveraging Google’s emerging search media platforms and will be incorporating user feedback from the Holiday Solutions Center into future marketing plans.
