Resolution Media's Having the Best Week Ever!

By Brooke Nichols

Today marks the finale of FindResolution.com’s first week. We’re looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the online community as we continue to expand the horizons of corporate blogging. In the coming weeks and months, you should see this space grow into a place for people to come share knowledge and interact with other fans, practitioners, leaders, and students of Search Marketing.

With that said, what better way to keep in tune with what’s going on in the Search world than with a few of the industry’s latest articles and insights into innovative trends?

Check out some of the current topics coming out of the Search Industry…

5 Ways to Make 2008 Pay Off Big
This is a great piece that takes the ‘New Year’s Resolution’ ideology and applies it to the Search Landscape. For example, “Get out of debt” speaks to the goal of analyzing keyword costs and changing bids to help you save money! “Spend more time with family and friends” is all about social networking...

We the People…Have a Lot to Say
“The campaigns are shaped by thousands of people… in their pajamas…blasting ads into the web.” – Mark McKinnon, Media Advisor to Senator John McCain
This article talks about the evolution of the political arena and how candidates must take social media into consideration. In the upcoming election, it’s all about “how your friends and neighbors will influence the election.”

The Reluctant Marketer
The author relays the value of relevance in Search Marketing through a recent experience of poor traditional advertising. This is Search’s strength, people! Search is able to reach consumers with what they’re looking for, when they’re looking for it.

FTC clears Google’s $3.1 billion acquisition of DoubleClick
The Federal Trade Commission, by a 4-1 vote, will not seek to block a takeover of Internet advertising service DoubleClick by search giant Google. “Although interested parties have raised concerns about the proposed acquisition’s impact on consumer privacy, the commission observed that such issues are 'not unique to Google and DoubleClick,' and 'extend to the entire online advertising marketplace,' ' according to an FTC statement.

How Consumers Help Build a Brand’s DNA
Companies are listening to what consumers have to say about their brand to not only change how they market – but what they market as well. The article quotes one marketer as saying, “…when we make improvements, we know for a fact people will care about them. And in our ads, we can boast, ‘Look, we did it.’”

Yahoo Search Assist: Capitalizing on Long-Tail Search
One searcher’s opinion of Yahoo Search Assist…
“Make sure that the terms the Yahoo Search Assist Tool suggests are included in your campaign. Make sure you are in top positions for those suggested terms. You may see a slight decline in impressions on your one and two word phrases. Check back often. These terms will update regularly, and new variations will make great additions to your search engine marketing campaign.”

Ring that bell. I would have to agree: best week ever. Strangely, though, in my two plus years at Resolution, we've been ringing that bell (metaphorically) every week.

Nice work putting this together, Brooke. I think it's really going to foster a sense of community both within Resolution Media, and within the search community as a whole. Looking forward to finding resolution next week, which I'm sure will also be our best week ever.
